Dispute Resolution

The process of resolving disputes between two or more parties. Dispute resolution fall into two categories: adjudication involving a judge or arbitrator, such as litigation or arbitration; and, consensual solutions such as mediation, conciliation or negotiation. Legal adjudication can be time consuming and expensive so alternative dispute resolution mechanisms are sometimes used in preference. See also Alternative Dispute Resolution.
