A Certificate of Origin [CO] is a document certifying the place of growth and production or manufacture of goods. The CO identifies goods and includes certification by a government authority, or other empowered body, that the goods in question originate in a specific country. The certificate often includes the exporters and importer’s details, the method of transport, port of origin and destination and a description of the goods with the country of origin listed. Customs authorities and bankers use the content of the document as part of international trade.« Back to Glossary Index
